Le musée d’Orsay possédait sans le savoir deux portraits de Constance Queniaux, l’un est une photographie de André-Adolphe Disdéri , l’autre beaucoup plus connu est un tableau de Gustave Courbet « l’origine du monde ». Claude Schopp qui pense avoir découvert l’identité du modèle ayant posé pour l »origine du monde, cite comme preuve, une lettre d’Alexandre Dumas à Georges Sand, datant de juin 1871. L’écrivain, parle de Courbet. « On ne peint pas de son pinceau le plus délicat et le plus sonore l’intérieur de Mlle Queniault de l’Opéra », écrit Dumas commentant le tableau de Gustave Courbet.
